How Does a Revit Model Work?

If you had 5 minutes to explain to someone the basics of a Revit model, how would you go about it?

I wanted to share this very basic (and rough) sketch with you, that I put together to describe the main data structures in Revit, along with key management components:

  1. That's a great representation! What's interesting is this is the most "basic" representation and yet it's already complicated. Showing this to a newbie would just be confusing...at first. Over time it will of course make perfect sense. It took me a while to get that "ah-ha" moment with Revit.
